Ara James Najarian is currently serving is fourth term on the Glendale City Council. He was been selected as mayor (a largely ceremonial title) three times.

He was passed over for mayor selection in April 2024, due to vile lies he spread online about Glendale Unified Public Schools. He has no children in GUSD. These lies led to increased extremist threats and violence directed at LGBTQ+ residents of Glendale and school district staff. Ara Najarian has never apologized for or recanted these lies.

Najarian then sued the City of Glendale. He lost, but not before costing taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees to get the case thrown out. Ara Najarian was sworn in as mayor again in April 2025, promising that he would not run for office again.

Ara Najarian often appears openly hostile to any Glendale residents advocating for public safety, environmental sustainability, affordable housing, and any other generally progressive policies that would make Glendale a safer, more livable city. Bike lanes make him particularly mad.

He is always down to support the Glendale Police Department, developers, and polluters.
