Updated January 5th 2026!
Election season is slowly gearing up in Glendale, and that means the clown car of candidates is starting to fill up! From rooftop jams to glamour shots to anti-bus and bike hysteria, we've got some real special people running for the three at-large seats on City Council this June.
It's true that in America, anyone can run for office (but should they?). We've got an RFK stan Evelina Sarian, who appears to be friendly with GUSD School board candidate Shant Kevorkian and who will defend her man against 'Biden Propaganda' on public Facebook posts!

We've got the usual "doctor" Alex Balekian. Balekian is runnin' for a third time in between trips to his 2 other homes in OC and NY because he cares about Glendale SO MUCH.
We've got someone named Beth Brooks. She likes to make public comment in her folksy getup, she hates bikes and buses too. And seems to think vaccines are like the Holocaust?

We've got "architect" Gevorg Grigoryan singing on rooftops. And there's Patrick Murphy, who just wants La Crescenta to stay the same it always has (Sundown Town with Nazi rallies? No bikes? No affordable housing? We'll have to read between the lines).
Among the issues:
Saving the city-owned heritage parking lots™ of North Glendale from possibly being used for something other than cars.
ExPENsIVE uTiliTY bILLs, even though the contentious rate hike was planned years ago due to decades of the City of Glendale and GWP failing to expand renewable energy alternatives to fossil fuels.
NO BIKES, NO BUSES. WE MUST KEEP ALL THE CARS ON ALL THE ROADS ALL THE TIME.

Alternatives to unhinged candidates include Alek Bartrosouf for City Council. Councilman and former mayor Dan Brotman is running again too. No word yet on whether or not Elen Asatryan will run again.
City Clerk Suzie Abajian is running again (hopefully just to keep doing land acknowledgements to piss off Ara and Vartan). School board and GCC Trustees are also up for re-election.
GUSD candidates include parent and public health advocate Aileen Dinkjian, former student Shant Kevorkian, sitting board member Kathleen Cross, and sitting board member Ingrid Gunnell.
